Sky Atlantic better do a full recap before the new series starts

it's pretty good.
I don't think I'll be spoiling for you by saying 'there's boobs and swords in it'. Add a midget to the mix, and you've got yourself a good watch.

On a related note
Googling the actress who plays Shae brought up some extremely illuminating videos too

Yeah, I should probably point out you shouldn't google the actress who plays Shae at work

great :-D
I loved the fleet of cars, and the little girls reaction when the engineer turned on the tv

she should have screamed and points and screamed "get them out, get them out they're trapped"
and then smashed her head into the screen to try and free them.

Same here
but am 3/4s of the way through the first book and have found it very engaging. Fantasy is not my normal bag.

The thing is even as the books go on, they're still not that fantastical.
The fantasy elements are there, but they're usually glossed over in favour of politics, sex and violence, not always in that order.

Absolutely - there is a magic in the world but it's as if such things are frowned upon
and best not talked about by the people. The fantasy element is a subtle backdrop to a very rich plot with more twists and turns than a Alton Towers ride.

You really are missing out it's a glorious series and I don't often say that.

problem is it's clearly got Sean Bean in it
which is short hand for unwatchable fantasy action and gruff talking nonsense in my books
( ,

Don't be misled by Sean Bean in this he really shines
more than that I cannot say as it would be a spoiler - really Sean Bean in this is fantastic and I really don't often say that!

My missus loved it
to me it looked like Lord of the Rings with blood, swearing and humping

Agreed
I'd even go so far as to say the adaptation is better than the books... *hides from inevitable net bashing*

Not seen any of the series
But read all the books which are all of teh awesome.
EDIT although I think I have a bone to pick with the TV series, as it would seem that as soon as the book publishers got a whiff of the TV deal they promptly suspended all book releases to cash in on the profile from the telly, resulting in the fact that while Vol 4 was released in paperback in 2006, Vol 5 is still only available in hardback.

Not to mention all the geeks rushing to buy them before they're reprinted with Sean Bean covers
win win, I think they call it

im not into beards, dragons, castles and all that other stuff, so i dont think ill ever watch it
These upcoming series have caught my eye though, if only for their retro stylings and nice ladies. Theyll probably be for women and gay people though.
Pan am

The Playboy club

And ill probably never get round to watching either of them. I dont get much time to watch stuff. Still got most of clone wars to watch.

I really am stunned that you haven't watched Mad Men

again - its another one of those 'everyone says its good' series i havent got round to watching
id rather be doing personal work, b3ta / facebooking, xboxing than sitting motionless watching a film or tv programme

placing Mad Men or watching films like Tangled below B3ta and Facebook is quite disturbing
but I know what you mean when its an unknown quantity, I have the same "will this be wasting precious time" problem

i just get tired and fidgety when i watch stuff
like its not stimulating me enough. At least when im using my puter or xboxing im interacting with something or doing something productive (in a minimal way) like tidying up my inbox, learning something or looking at some links ive had bookmarked for weeks.
