# I keep telling myself...
...this one can't be any worse than Stallone's drivelling pile of crap.

Please be awesome. Please be awesome. Please be awesome.

# ^ The Angel Gang and ABC warrior were the only good things in it.

# Mega City One was spot on.
EDIT: Has there ever been a 2000AD image challenge?
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 10:52, archived)
# nope, a little too niche I think
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 11:03, archived)
# Really? I would have thought the recognition & scope factor was pretty high.

# while 2000AD fans appear to be the only people inhabiting the board at this very moment
I imagine the avalanche of complaints would be quite sizeable

# No change from every other compo, surely?

# there's only one way to find out..........

#
I HAVE VOTED FOR THIS AND THINK IT IS EXCELLENT.

# Voted.
Also - just browsing through potential sauces, and saw this - possibly the only incarnation of Keep Calm and Carry On that still has the potential to give me a chuckle.

# D.R. & Quinch ftw!
HBO should either make this or Halo Jones.
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 11:38, archived)
# Halo Jones could be excellent
although I can imagine it wouldn't be
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 12:25, archived)
# how about this one?

# Made this for the Royal Wedding... ahh, memories...
memories...

# You're right Prodge...
As a generic sci-fi film it was alright ashally... BUT IT WAS NOT DREDD.
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 11:44, archived)
# I distinctly remember the audible groan going roind the cinema when he took his hemlet off...
Thing is, Stallone actually had the potential to be quite a decent Dredd (given a bit of editing work to make him a bit taller). The jaw's OK, and his usual monosyllabic grunt would have been bang on. Just which dolt wrote that awful script, aand then why the hell did they allow him to think he could act?

# and why the codpiece
and why the flying judge bikes
and why etc etc
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 11:05, archived)
# "Why?"
That should be the only, and 100% accurate, IMDb entry for this clunker.
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 11:11, archived)
# Flying bikes.
Fine for ET The Fucking Extra Testicle, or Harry Fucking Potter, but not for Dredd.
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 11:57, archived)
# Clint Eastwood would have been better
He has the voice, the chin, the gruff attitude, and is associated with large guns.
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 11:06, archived)
# The Man With No Name/Dirty Harry were partial inspirations for Dredd.
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 11:17, archived)
# the big problem was the visual tone of the whole thing...
it was too bright... it made it look tacky and plastic...

it should have been darker and greyer
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 11:43, archived)
# Indeed.
The whole nuclear armageddon "Apocalypse War" storyline of would have been awesome for a trilogy... Block Mania, Apocalypse War, and then something non-canon with the Dark Judges - sort of a post-apocalyptic Necropolis.

That's my 2000ad wet dream.
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 11:53, archived)
# That...
...and Anderson and Hershey getting it on, obviously.
(, Tue 22 May 2012, 11:55, archived)
# The plan with the movies, if 'Dredd' works, is to introduce Judge Death in the next one.
