# I distinctly remember the audible groan going roind the cinema when he took his hemlet off...
Thing is, Stallone actually had the potential to be quite a decent Dredd (given a bit of editing work to make him a bit taller). The jaw's OK, and his usual monosyllabic grunt would have been bang on. Just which dolt wrote that awful script, aand then why the hell did they allow him to think he could act?

# "Why?"
That should be the only, and 100% accurate, IMDb entry for this clunker.

# Flying bikes.
Fine for ET The Fucking Extra Testicle, or Harry Fucking Potter, but not for Dredd.

# Clint Eastwood would have been better
He has the voice, the chin, the gruff attitude, and is associated with large guns.

# The Man With No Name/Dirty Harry were partial inspirations for Dredd.

# the big problem was the visual tone of the whole thing...
it was too bright... it made it look tacky and plastic...

it should have been darker and greyer

# Indeed.
The whole nuclear armageddon "Apocalypse War" storyline of would have been awesome for a trilogy... Block Mania, Apocalypse War, and then something non-canon with the Dark Judges - sort of a post-apocalyptic Necropolis.

That's my 2000ad wet dream.

# That...
...and Anderson and Hershey getting it on, obviously.

# The plan with the movies, if 'Dredd' works, is to introduce Judge Death in the next one.
