# a handful of nice effects bits
some ok acting, but an enormous waste of time when you can watch Carpenter's
(, Wed 18 Jul 2012, 13:26, archived)
# The bit where the guy's face split in half on the chopper was proper unexpected & was some ace effects
Great effects in general that made me smile, but yeah - the whole thing was kind of a pointless remake.

# the first wobble of his face was superb, I would have prefered more of the subtlety
and less of the silly arm centipedes and stuff
(, Wed 18 Jul 2012, 13:31, archived)
# Probably wouldnt have been as scary or life-threatening for the characters if people just went around with their faces subtly wobbling
I do wish mutant monsters in stuff like this and dead space would make more human-y / moaning / guttural noises than dinosaur roars and screams.
Some silent hill monsters make subtle human-y noises, and that makes them far more disturbing than another screamy 'im going to try and make you jump' monster.

# I used to work with a couple of professional film critics, who were - of course - arseholes of the highest order.
One Monday I informed them I'd just watched Nikita, and they asked me what I thought, so I told them I didn't think it was as good as The Assassin.
