Besides, urls for websites should start with www. It's tradition. And just plain common sense.
Otherwise I might be talking to an ftp server or a gopher server or some other such nonsense.

i mean 98.9 % of people using the web are going to be using www sites 99.56% of the time anyway, so all websites in my opinion should just not have www, it just seems a waste of time typing in www when b3ta.com will / or should do :)

b3ta.com is just a domain.
www.b3ta.com is a server (well in this case a mapping to a couple of servers)
it's just laziness to omit the www. bit.
besides saying www. is tickly on the tongue.
