Playing with those green plastic toy soldiers while young...

Oooh I loved doing that!
My brother and me divised a unique way of processing 100s of cabbage white butterfly catapillars quickly and painlessly: we lay them on a bicycle chain and mashed them up as it went through the teeth of the thingy. My dad grew lots of cabbages in our back garden (by way of explanation).
