If you like lord of the rings
it's definately worth a read.
Aimed at younger readers than LOTR though.

I don't know
I liked it when I was little, but I had the big, full color version with the orange cover.
I tried to re read it recently, and it's very dull. I do like The Lord of the Rings books though. The first movie was ok, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the second

i only got it
to see if there was anything extra/different from the tv series
there were some differences in story (to the soldiers that have since passed away) that were a little odd

Personally I think
Peter Jackson is gonna be getting sick of the whole Lord Of The Rings thing by now, it's bound to of spent a good few years of his life on it now, so if he does make The Hobbit, I doubt it'd be for a looooooooong time.
And from what I've read Weta Workshop are gonna be doing teh effects of the Evangelion live action movie. Woo!

An anime thing
basically about big robots fighting big things called Angels. THough there is a lot more to it than that.

apparently
he's regretting making all 3 movies at once and says he'll never film more than 1 movie at once again

really?
I think that was the only way to do it. Probably makes editing them together tough, though because you can't go back and film more.
The hobbit would just be one. The animated version is good enough for me, though

they have been going back
and filming more shots for each of the movies after the main film has been done.

i dunno if this is true in the US
but over here they bring the films out on DVD then a coupla months later bring out a 'special' DVD which has extra bits in the actual movie
i didn't realise this until i'd bought the first one on dvd

they're doing that for LOTR
and most movies have a special edition eventually.
I own brazil, but they've released a special edition of it, for example. I'd really like to see what's on it, but I'm cheap

You're right.
I've got the extended DVD of "Fellowship," US version. The extra scenes are actually worthwhile (as opposed to the extras on most other DVDs)...

Well
when watching the 4dvd set, I noticed they had a lot of fun and everything, it even became a way of life. This movie or another, it'll always be hard work...

I'm sure it was fun and all
but for most of the other people involved, it wouldn;t of been constant, the actors for definate, would go off and be able to do things away from it, a lot of the crew wouldn't be filming, etc etc.
But Peter Jackson, he'd of been doing basically just Lord Of The Rings for years.
