how do u get the transparency propertys working in flash
i cant do it, all i get is a white block around the image, please help meeee

I probably don't have the answer you're looking for
but if you "trace bitmap" then click -> delete the white,
there you go.

its probably not a transparency issue,
if you have a photoshop image you are using in flash, make sure that the colour of the matting you use in optimisation is the same as the colour of the background you intend to use it on.
