the web standard? It's a portable document file, and not anywhere as prevelant as a .doc file, which IS the industry standard.

which, as we all work full time, seems to be about once every three months.

Constantly on the verge of jacking in work to spend time making it pay. Only small vestiges of commom sense prevent me

Why not provide a subsription-only hard copy through a small printers
and then use that to subsidise putting hard copies on shelves. Im sure there are magazines that are far less interesting out there that manage to make a start.

Also, sponsorship and advertising is always a good thing. small places dont pay much but enough to cover printing costs. People tend to expect it in magazines aswell so it doesnt detract from readership
