[sic] should only be used if you are copying text or quoting from another source, where the spelling is incorrect
not just if you are unsure of how to spell it yourself ;)

I didn't question if you knew what it means -
rather that if you don't know how something is spelt, rather than putting [sic] after it, why not just look it up in the dictionary.
