...but i fear this is something you'd need a cell phone to understand. my phone still has a rotary dial, so your efforts, while pretty, are beyond me.

well, I have a newish phone, and when you turn it on it does a swirly vortex animation as it starts up (with the network branding).

Could be something to do with that sort of thing.
