In a nutshell
if the ball is passed to the attacker and there is no defender between the attacker and the goalkeeper, he is ruled offside as soon as his boot touches the ball.

As I said
It's in a nutshell. That is what offside is. A rule to stop players hanging around the goal. The offside trap and all the other boring stuff that goes with it is just embellishments of the main rule.
Patronising git ;)

That's a great icon

1. It's obvious what it is (very clear).
2. It warns me not to strike up any conversations with those who use it for fear of the topic turning to football!
3. erm
