It's not
actually a "Core" type film. I was trying to argue this point to the Nevillady, who didn't seem to care much for it.

It's more Solaris or 2001, although quite arguably not as good as either

Cillian Murphy is usually quite good and carries films well
Did you see him in Ruari Robinson's follow up to 50 percent Grey? very impressive.
