I work with a handful of charities
I used to be a committee member at the BHF, I am a governor with the RNLI and I am the secretary of a not-for-profit organisation who build pretty woodland trails for local children to cycle on, and it generally appals me how much is spent on shite.

The sad truth is though that they do get more money back if they send pens out, so it is worth while, but wouldn't it be nice if we just looked after people anyway?

my wife gets paid
£140k PA by a Cancer charity as senior finance director. Even though it's about two thirds what she would get in the sector were she to go to Delloites ( they have been headhunting her for 4 years ) the fact is a hell of a lot gets swallowed in admin. ( Mind you, she hands out £10M a year )

I was involved in the Rock N Roll Loony Party, and did a lot of stuff for the RNIB.

One time, i abseiled down our town's tallest building for charity (got a grand out of the mob from our pub), after borrowing one of the loony party candidate's bullhorns.

in retrospect, "SHITTING CHRIST, YOU SHOULD SEE THE VIEW FROM UP HERE" wasn't the best thing to go out live on the local radio coverage.
