the files up into a format that stuffit expander can work with and then get Mac guy to download the archive.

ther should be a pointy arrow with a drop down menu, which will allow 'save as source'

Save as. Or use a two-button mouse, or when in the file-playing window go to the file menu and choose "save as"

EDIT: The board is eating my response. Why? I also wrote some other ways to achive file saving nirvana, but they won't appear.
EDIT 2: Works now, strange

It's funny, but I was having a similar conversation the other day with a windows user who couldn't work it out.
