i remember him from kids tv here yrs ago
but wil ALWAYS like him for his Joe Bjelke-Peterson Interview:
Johno: Sir Joe it has been suggested in some quarters that you are a fascist dictator?
Joe B-P: Oh yes indeed Jonathon, but a kind and friendly one!
(he can bash his sat arvo radio show though!)

Glad you are still around.
RE: Imageready.
Yes, you are correct, it has been finally dicontinued. However you will notice that the animation properties of it have been integrated into PS CS3 extended ( not sure about the standard as I don't have it ) so there is little to worry about. I do believe that web designers are reporting that they miss the slicing attributes from IR CS2 as PS CS3 sems to be poor at this ( adobe will direct you to use Fireworks or InDesign as the promotion of these products is the reason for the demise of imageready ) I can't comment more on that as I don't do web design with these products.
You can always leave CS2 installed as I have but I think once I get my head around using CS3 to animate I'll slowly let it go.
Hope that helps.

Ah
I'm still awaiting my version of cs3 so I didn't know this. It's actually kind of the opposite of what I thought they'd do. I could have seen them extending imageready's capabilities to enable it to make simple flash movies (in other words, simple vector animation). I'm a little disappointed with this outcome, but on the other hand in recent PS/CS versions it's been a bit ridiculous to have a second app just for animation.

I think that
The whole appropriation of Macromedia and with that, flash, has made adobe market their packages differently. I don't see flash ever entering into the photoshop realm as adobe need to sell flash 9 and fireworks as separate items.
That's the reason the packages are set up in the way that they are. If I was to make a suggestion to anyone thinking of buying I would say unless you own studio 8 then get a package of CS3 tools and unless you are predominantly a web monkey then CS3 design premium is the way to go. I had studio 8 and 4 full adobe products before and my upgrade cost £724.79. I got no fireworks or contribute in this but I never use them. What I did get was this.
