# I don't understand why Macs are better for graphic art...
do you get better applications or something?
(, Thu 22 Nov 2007, 16:19, archived)
# I don't know.
I didn't do graphic design, I did DTP and used a bloody PC and IT WAS FINE, thank you very much.

I think it does make some things easier though.

# We need Freebs to explain it to us
but he's very busy and I keep saying using Apple Macs means you're bi-curious... so he might not.
(, Thu 22 Nov 2007, 16:24, archived)
# no
you get the same programms on the, it's just that wanky art types like to wank over them and be all nathan barley about how well designed they are while secretly running windows via VMware and getting the same performance as a 2ghz celeron.

# Bollocks!

# it all true.

mac networks are a legacy from the 80 when macs were better for DTP applications and used in most design studios.

the current power and cheapness of the PC is leading to those studios now looking at PC networks.

it's a cost thing, like why people are migrating to InDesign because it's half the cost of quark.

of course there are those that will never change,

# BUT MY MAC WILL HELP ME ATTRACT WOMEN AT THE CAFE!
if I ever find the guts to leave my cellar

joke beside, I'm a PC power user who recently got his first MacBook just because
- I needed a new Notebook anyway
- I didn't want to run Vista
- I was curious to try MacOS for a change

and I'd say the Mac is....interesting. It looks very nice, the hardware is good, it runs stable (mainly because the OS runs on known and tested hardware configurations) and it does what I want it to.
It's just not worth the hype. I still can't understand those Mac freaks who start sniffing everytime Steve Jobs leaves a fart.
