Or just buy a computer because it's "pretty" and your geek mate says it's better than Windows. Just don't come crying to me when you can't get any software, have to run bulky, slow translators like Rosetta and the bastard thing burns your lap because it runs at twice the temperature of the surface of the Sun.

AND IT'S KEEPING MY LEGS NICE AND MELTY.
It actually is.
And I totally agree, I only got it to run Logic.

It then became some kind of "hip and trendy" company for all the cool kids, practically overnight.

and I just do not understand how they get away with it.

I think the addition of "i" in front of every cunting product they ever make helps a bit, but I don't see how. I still bought an iRiver, and it's basically fucking indestructible.

I like the fact that it is a hard-drive with an mp3 player, so I can drop in whatever files I like and it'll play the music ones as well.
Fuck having to install fucking iTunes just to listen to a song.

In fact, all but one of the buttons on my iRiver are broken. It can only turn on, play, pause and go to radio/mp3 function.
But it's still usable, and I have lots of movies and programs stored on there.
It's ace.

If you want to use photoshop, look at films and pictures and surf the web then, with the addition of the sensible second mouse button, it is very good.
About as good as a windows or Ubuntu box that cost as much.

Photoshop, Illustrator and Corel painter all at the same time with images open and in edit whilst browsing too? I Don't ask this glibly, we have a macbook pro here that she has stopped using. I have never turned it on myself. My laptop is no longer up to all the things I want to do ( oh that includes World of Warcraft ) and as I'll be working away this summer I don't know if I should bite the bullet and try and use the godawful thing or just buy another laptop.
(, Sun 2 Mar 2008, 23:26, archived)
But I wouldn't be surprised if it could handle that, it's a lot more powerful than this thing, and it does damn near all I want to do.

PC around with me wherever I go but hotels frown on it. I have all the above running right now plus media player and all the usual background stuff. I've not found a way to kill it yet and this is not even the big beast.

I'm not really a laptop fan to be honest and my XDA does just about all I need for work purposes as it runs windows mobile 6. But If I'm going to be away for 4-6 weeks then I'm pretty damn sure I'll miss warcraft and b3ta so need to be prepared.

there is something about them that drives people fanatical, though.
Maybe they're actually really shit and we're all in denial.

and the os, if it suits your needs, is very cool. the only downsides for me are the wide screens and the lack of factory-ready tablet screens. that, and macbook pros dent really easily
that said, this wee acer is full of bullet holes, and plastic doesn't bend so well...
(, Sun 2 Mar 2008, 23:27, archived)
and my MacBook is extremely durable compared to all the PC laptops I've had in the past. It even copes with my kitten chewing the corners :-)
Mind you, if the Acer works with bullet holes in it, I'd stick with that brand...

and has the blessing of fanlessness. it's kind of magical, and i do love it. but sooner or later it will die, and i don't want to be left without a backup plan
plus, though it handles everything i throw at it with aplomb, it could be a leetle beet quicker

Just not as good.
If I played games I would go windows and I have a vaio media centre but for creative uses I need a mac.
I agree about the rosetta crap though.
Just upgraded to a quad core intell xeon and had to stick 9 gig in it to get a good performance out of CS2....
just got to wait until the boss lady gets back so I can beg for CS3 which runs native on Intel chips.
BTW anyone using a laptop of any kind on their lap clearly doesnt value their nadgers. Laptop batteries have a bad rep for exploding or catching fire.

You tedious, herd following Windoze loving, Bill Gates sucking moron. Enjoy your virus ridden, crap-wizard-laden piece of shit OS that you use because you're too stupid to know any better. WANKSTAIN!
Still, when it breaks (which it always does) at least you can go down to Greggs the fucking bakers to get it fixed.

You only bought your redundant, fisher price anachronism of a computer because you thought it would make you look hard, radical and politically edgy.
Instead everyone assumes you are either a predictable, new millennium protest-sheep, or some spotty, teenage sociopath with no love life, that only runs really dull techy apps and substandard open source shit.
Either way you lose. Always.
