I know Newman and Baddiel were supposed to be the Lennon/McCartney of TMWE, but Punt and Dennis are actually funnier than they ever were.
/IMHO

it was shocking, as i remember it.

I seem to have wiped it from my memory.
Mind you, I also fail to remember that anything that Rob Newman has done since 1994, apart form being called a cunt by Sean Hughes on channel 4.

seems to have carved quite a mark thomas/bill hicks type comedy career since then. not all that funny, but intelligent, rambling and political. he did a thing on the history of oil that's worth a watch, and freely available on youtube and the like.

I would remove "intelligent" from what you just said. Rambling, yes. Verbose, yes. Deluded, yes. Paranoid, yes. Intelligent, no fucking way.

intelligence is not getting all your information from Michael Moore books.
ill-informed but succintly delivered then.

and they're intermittently funny on Radio 2 these days. Or at least I think they are, I hear their show approximately once every two years. Is it still going? I don't even know.
Still funnier than Baddiel and fucking Newman though.
(, Fri 9 May 2008, 23:05, archived)
and the funniest thing I ever heard Rob Newman say was written by David Baddiel.
I used to stay up to listen to The Mary Whitehouse Experience on Radio One though.

The Armando Iannucci show was class. Remember when they played songs with "The ITV Chart Show" information nuggets over them? "Nine Inch Nails is actually a misnomer. There are eight of them."

If you haven't heard him (which I'm sure you have) then do so now.

Of course I know of Ivor Cutler. Good call, though.

The band was... Showaddywaddy.
Did you know he has to ADR that because he's usually booed off by the audience.
