We own that book
along with some collected essays and other quantum physicists' books. It's quite nice as if anyone calls us out on it, the wife will happily sit there and explain all of the points therein.

I should point out he's a designer for a living, and hasn't got anything above a physics GCSE.

i enjoy having very little schooling in physics and being able to talk about this stufff :)
big science is cool. the best way to read it is: Science of Discworld, Bill Bryson's History of Everything, Universe in a nutshell, brief history of time.

you spend a fair bit of time rereading things but in a slightly more complicated way. very good :)

I think it's probably much more laudable
to understand concepts in a book written really totally over your (one's) head.

I did give Science of Discworld a go but I found it too stilted with the jumping between the story and the actual science. Maybe this makes me seem stupid but I had no problem understanding the points made, just reading the book in the first place.

Anyway, I am now off out. G'night :-)

Edit: You may want to read anything by Brian Greene, I know the wife really enjoys his books.
