# that's when you upload it with the uploader
It's generally accepted that most images should be around the 50k mark when they make it to /board.

The Uploader will do that for you if you upload a 400k image.

# think all should try hosting their own images for a while
then people'd appreciate filesize a little more. a page full of 100k images would be ridiculous, go make websites and pay for hosting then you'll realise ;o)
(that sounds ranty...erm sorry ish)

# Yeah, 2gb of downloads for US$10 a month is really killing me.

(, Fri 30 May 2008, 18:04, archived)
# ok so maybe i was being melodramatic
still can't get it out of my head that most people are past dial-up these days, don't need to keep page sizes down so much. £60 ish a year? sounds about the same as me, though i get ~30gb a month ha ha ner ner ner ner ner :D
(, Fri 30 May 2008, 18:25, archived)
# I was talking about my hosting.
I like the idea of small image sizes though, my work calculates internet usage by bandwidth, so I can piss around on b3ta all day but the people that sit on ebaumsworld downloading videos in their lunchtime are the people that get told off.

As it should be.
(, Fri 30 May 2008, 18:37, archived)
# and the TV series
that was also far better. I really tried to like the film but it had everything good taken out. I watched it once and then gave it to a charity shop. Utterly, utterly terrible.

# "oh no, here we go again"

(, Fri 30 May 2008, 17:34, archived)
# I won't go on about it
I merely request that everybody involved with the film should go and kill themselves and then we'll say no more about it.

almost finished though, so no spoilers there :P

A sequel. Now that would make me fear.

# Minor?
Everthing that was good about the radio plays, books and TV series was taken out. It had no redeeming features - not one.
(, Fri 30 May 2008, 17:30, archived)
# Ah but they all were different.
That was the intended porpoise!

Interestingly though there is a DNA font based from his handwriting on www.1001fonts.com
(, Fri 30 May 2008, 17:32, archived)
# There's not an awful lot of consistency between any of those anyway,
so I'm not sure what you'd like to be left with.
(, Fri 30 May 2008, 17:32, archived)
# I'd quite like to have been left with the humour
The film just wasn't funny at all, whilst the books, plays and series did at least have the consistent theme that they weren't just embarassing. If all the formats of HHG were a family, that film would be the member they locked in the attic and never spoke of.
(, Fri 30 May 2008, 17:38, archived)
# Not only that but the love story was a lame bid to the idiot movie going public
and they literally fucking FORGOT the main plot conveniently at the end. The entire thing was a bad game of Guess Who Blew the Budget on CGI and celebrity casting?
(, Fri 30 May 2008, 19:19, archived)
# But he was involved in the initial writing to my memory, obviously they had to take some initiative after he died.
Still, I imagine he probably would have got that bloke from Pirates of the Carribean to be Arthur, seeing as he looks identical to Simon Jones.
(, Fri 30 May 2008, 17:32, archived)
# Ah but he said that he'd never let Disney do it.
He hated what they wanted to do with it and they got it posthumously.
This is what I got pissed off at.

EDIT: DNA is my idol. I've read all the biographies, own everything he's ever done (to my knowledge) and even can programme a bit in the now obsolite DNA language. I'd love to know what he'd make of Pastararianism though:D
(, Fri 30 May 2008, 17:34, archived)
# He'd probably say that you shouldn't trust any deity with more limbs than one could foreseeably need.
That's just showing off.

I have no idea what the Douglas adams programming language is.

# Or possibly

# I watched it again recently
and I actually liked it better than the first time.

good points:

* the vogons.
* mos def.
* musical dolphins!
* fairly nice guide animations (but not enough of them).
(, Fri 30 May 2008, 18:26, archived)
# Mos Def is NOT A FUCKING GOOD POINT!
RARGH!

He STANK as Ford Prefect. He just seemed bored most of the time. Seriously, both Geoffrey McGivern and David Dixon were 100x better in that role.

The dolphin musical was shit filler material. There weren't even any jokes in it, it was just the same crap cheaply filmed and dragged out for about five minutes because they blew the budget later on.

The guide animations really weren't a patch on the original animations, though Stephen Fry was a good voice of the book.
