# :D
But lets forget all that, everyone else is now going to be part of the revolution without any such training at all so your role is obsolete *blows self up in shit movie finale*

# Sorry, but it was fucking dumb and shit
There is a reason why Evie takes over in the book and leads the masses, because he put her through hell to make her strong enough to do it without simply rioting.
The Wankshowsies clearly missed that point and then because it didn't not make sense enough, they decided to bring people back from the dead that made no sense whatsoever in a cheap "ooh what does that mean" bit of ambiguity.

# ^ this ^
Taking the Hollywood effect into account, I thought they did an excellent job overall, but there's no excuse for the end of this movie.

# the look was great
but they didn't get the story and failed badly by taking out the drugs and full torture/testing of V sequence

# i think i remember reading an interview with the wachowskis saying they had to take that out because other wise it'd have been an 18 and cut out the market they were trying to aim the films message at

#
aim the films message at
take the most money from
(, Thu 10 Jul 2008, 12:06, archived)
# well of course, thats hollywood sadly
i think the film could have been perfect if moore had just got off his high horse. ok League of extraordinary gentlemen was shit, but that doesn't mean they all will be, especially if he was to help with it, a la Frank Miller

# Sin City didn't excite me
The novelty black and white value wore off very quickly.
Makes me not want to bother with The Spirit even if the effect is a lot more polished now
(, Thu 10 Jul 2008, 12:21, archived)
# the movie is different from the comic book, you can't expect something written 30 years ago to be kept intact, it'd be irrelevent now
torturing evie to make her strong didn't serve the same purpose in film as it did the book. rather than producing a new V, evie becomes a character able to lead the world after the revolution.

the bringing peope back from the dead was stylistic, it was just meant to represent that everyone who had died at the hands of the dictatorship was behind the wait of the revolution.

# I FINALLY got around to seeing the 3rd Matrix film last week
what a heap of shit, but at least the Animatrix episodes are quite good (well teh half of them that I've seen)
(, Thu 10 Jul 2008, 11:44, archived)
# i love Animatrix
though i could never bring myself to see Revolutions. Reloaded let me down too much

# thats how I felt, but I saw teh "ultimate boxset" thing on the cheap
some of the movie showed promise, but it all became a bit stupid, the final fight was lame, and the actual conclusion was just weak

# I was watching a bit of the first one the other night, the lobby sequence
It just makes me laugh now. Always thought propellerheads was a slightly odd choice, it now feels like Benny Hill music :D

(I do like the propellerheads though)

# it does a little doesn't it?
and the "there is no spoon" bit just makes me cringe now

# Words cannot describe how much I disagree with you.
EDIT: apart from those ones.

# explain to me the ending then

# I think it's a visual reference to the "he was all of us" comment
that Evey makes at the end

it's still rather unnecessary though, I thought it was quite tacky really
(, Thu 10 Jul 2008, 11:57, archived)
# NOOOOOOOOOO!
it was hell to go through to become V. He had been tortured by the government for months which turned him in to what he was, then he did the same to Evey so that she would be his successor. You can't just put on a mask, otherwise why did he shave her head and lock her up?!

# The finale was shit
the movie was quite good

and by 'finale' I mean the "let's all take our masks off in awe, even those of us who have died" bit
(, Thu 10 Jul 2008, 11:50, archived)
# yes, the bits that were taken directly from the book were great
I even quite liked the alteration to the character played by Stephen Fry.

I'm not being a twatty "its not identical to the comic therefore its shit" person, I just found the film to be a shallow pile of wank compared to the storyline of the original.

# what i thought was weak in the comic
is how he sends that bloke mad by melting his dolls!
(, Thu 10 Jul 2008, 11:58, archived)
# he loved those dolls :D

(, Thu 10 Jul 2008, 12:02, archived)
# but that much
i love my comics but i wouldnt go mad if they were destroyed - okay i'd be pissed off - but not dribbling!
(, Thu 10 Jul 2008, 12:04, archived)
# but if you loved them more than people
that would hurt your brain and be a little bit Alanis
(, Thu 10 Jul 2008, 12:07, archived)
# i must have missed the part with the dead people
taking of the masks - i know V said that fry's character was dead - but there was no evidence of it!

as is, I think, the person who shot her

i'm not very good with faces! (actually this is quite embarrasing as i often end up speaking to myself in a mirror thinking its someone else) :D

perhaps i'm missing out by having never seen this...
