OK... the words "of" and "have" can sound vaguely similar, depending on how you prounounce them.
Even so, they have vastly different meanings which surely cannot be easily confused. " could have been two movies" is what you should have said, if you weren't grotesquely wrong on that point as well. We'll gloss over the split infinitive.

Apart from that, I endorse your post. Actually, I don't. The Dark Night may have faults, but being two films unpleasantly slammed into one bastard whole is not one of them.
