it deters cats a lot more because they HATE it when they go to clean themselves.

I need a new exciting and sophisticated drink to enjoy and with which to impress people with how cool I am - what can you furnish me with/suggest?

I tried a new Scottish Vodka the other day which contains milk thistle and it was jolly nice.

# Absinthe and coke
/autocomplete
Bloody lovely, it is. Tastes like blackjack sweets.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 11:40, archived)
# ha - thanks - never thought of that...
I'm a little cautious when getting new mixed drinks at the moment because everything seems to contain Red Bull which is evil

# I think I found that it didn't matter too much
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 12:03, archived)
# Red Bull is indeed evil.
Just put a tiny splash of Absinthe into a big glass of cold coke.
add too much and it goes a horrible sludgey yellow and tastes too strong,
add just a little bit and it's gorgeously decadent and yummy.
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 11:49, archived)
# Hmm....
May have to try that...
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 11:49, archived)
# hmmm
If you can get hold of Milagro tequila, then that is impressive.

If you are looking for sweet but nice, then try Passoa

If you want to remortgage your house then try Louis XIII Black Pearl

different but cheap - Sailor Jerry Rum

Hendrick's gin with tonic and cucumber for that summer twist

www.in-the-spirit.co.uk is your best source for inspiration!

what's your occasion?

# :D
thanks... my occasion is I get bored of the limited selection of good things to drink and I'm friendly with a barman who might be prepared to get better things in for me if I were to ask nicely.

I'll check all of those out (I like SJR and enjoy a Hendrick's and tonic).

Balvenie for single malt
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 11:45, archived)
# I have a long list of malts, but thanks anyway
Balvenie make a smashing single. I've been on a pretty good run of form recently with my malts, especially for in the house... built up a great collection of cask strength bottles - some quite hard to get hold of :D
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 11:49, archived)

# oooh what's it called?
(, Mon 11 May 2009, 11:53, archived)
# it's called Pincer
and it makes a damned good drink... if you're lucky you'll find it cheap in various places at the moment because they're promoting it. It's a lot softer and smoother than other Vodkas I've had, which I though would put me off but it's very enjoyable:

1/2pt Morrison's White Cider
1/2pt Vodka

Preparation:

1. Mix Morrison's White Cider with Vodka.
2. Consume.
3. Repeat steps 1-2 three times.
