[challenge entry] I'd been photoshopping all night, and this wolf jpg suddenly appeared. Well I just hit 'save as' and it couldn't have been more perfect. Do I win a prize?

# FAKE!!!!!!!!
this was from that photography comp. got booted out for being a staged image

# You do
but later to be withdrawn, with you left feeling ashamed ;)

The guy even had the cheek to shoot this on a medium format Leica or Hasselblad didn't he?
(, Tue 23 Mar 2010, 22:00, archived)
# I don't know that he felt ashamed.
It was booted on suspicion of being staged, but nothing was proved and he denied it, which is pretty shit really.

# Err, no
it was revealed it was a trained animal, and hence not a genuine capture of 'wildlife'

The £30k odd bit of gear in his hand to capture such a moment might have raised a few eyebrows

# i read that that's why they booted him
but did it ever get proved?

edit: i also read a back story about how he'd set up the camera. his claim wasn' that it was a lucky snap, but that he'd seen wolf activity and put a sensor triggered camera in place overnight or something. I'm not disputing either story, i'm genuinely curious whether it got proven

"The organisers were alerted to suspicions about the image by Spanish photographers who recognised the wolf and the location as the Cañada Real wildlife park. Wolf experts also questioned why the wolf would jump the gate when a wild animal was more likely to squeeze between the bars.

The judges said they asked Rodriguez for corroboration of his story and if there was anyone who could act as a witness to back him up, but his answers were inadequate."

= 'was suggested'

He maintained that it was not and they just booted him with no proof.
