Sorry if this was done already today, but I'm low on hummus :(

# aAaaArgh, More Kitten killing capability!
and i shall continue by shamelessly using my 930th post to steal your thread: Right, anyone know anything about import tax from Hong Kong or anywhere i can buy ridiculously cheap cameras please?
(, Fri 5 Mar 2004, 21:16, archived)
# ebay
is a start, allot of people on there selling from the far east
(, Fri 5 Mar 2004, 21:17, archived)
# now there's your problem see...
i have several items, but they all from Hong Kong or surrounds, and i don't want to have to sell spare organs to pay off C&E
(, Fri 5 Mar 2004, 21:19, archived)
# Well when
it comes to customs if it's a gift you don't have to pay duty, but of course if they realise it's a business transcation they'll keep it until you pay up. As for organs that's up to you - you only need one kidney....
(, Fri 5 Mar 2004, 21:21, archived)
# hmm, shall have to contact the sellers
a £250 camera for £170 seems a good deal, but then if they bloody tax me it'll ruin the whole procedure.
(, Fri 5 Mar 2004, 21:22, archived)
# yeah it's not great
i've been taxed on something from CDwow before (also from hongkong) but as stated above it should be ok if it's a gift. Ask the seller to wrap it in wrapping paper or something :D

edit: i'm sure you'll be able to find something if you google enough for it

# try
the customs and excise office...something something.gov.uk, prolly.

Customs is usually dependant on price, what you intend to do with it, etc...if you buy it through a uk company, you shouldn't have to pay tax at all no matter where it comes from...and if you buy it frong hk then sometimes it comes vat-free as you're taking it overseas

besides, the posting cost will be huge...trust me...so you might be better buying something here
