# tomorrow is the 1 year anniv. of that great shitty day
i work for a school system in texas- in this school system i work in the technology dept- which automatically makes me cynical and irritable... well thats just great... tomorrow is the big damn anniversary of the sept 11 trendsetting, err... horrible event... umm... by cruel heartless bastards blah blah blah... and it is quite trendy to be all patriotic and all that shit... as you may have noticed, i have taken the point of veiw of someone who is sick of this damn thing (oh my god! i must be a terrorist!) and so tomorrow, they are going to be doing all this stupid crap about america and how dirty ole bin can rot in hell, blah blah blah... thank god for firemen and all that crap... i think i should commit suicide to spare myself the cynical rage which will be on a constant explosion loop in my mind tomorrow

before school starts, the students are going to gather around the flagpole, cry, say prayers, and all sorts of crap...

now im not exactly the holier than thou art type... but umm- seperation of church and state? yes! they fucking said over the morning announcements that students are supposed to show up at the flagpole to pray for those lost in the 9/11 tradgedy

damn... i think i should just call in sick tomorrow
(, Tue 10 Sep 2002, 23:35, archived)
# I go to UT-Austin
which school system do you work for?
(, Tue 10 Sep 2002, 23:36, archived)
# i work for
montgomery ind. school district
its located in montgomery, texas (of all places)
the technology dept consists of like 5 people, low pay, and lots of old crappy heaps
(, Tue 10 Sep 2002, 23:40, archived)
# nice
do you do the flagpole thing to remember people killed in wars ?

If you don't, tell em to stick said pole up their ass...
(, Tue 10 Sep 2002, 23:38, archived)
# of course not- its like soooooo untrendy
now if it was a war caused by a really easily hated figure, and maybe a lot of people died... and maybe a buttload of celebrities got together and sang songs and painted horses and told jokes... and then every store in america sold little flag stickers...

then maybe they would do the flagpole thing for those who died in a war

If its any consolation I didn't stand for your national anthem a year ago on Sept 14th.
(, Tue 10 Sep 2002, 23:39, archived)
# it is consolation, thanks
i personally think this country has gone down the crapper... and i dont mean in any overnight sort of way

i was working in a room that was for a typing class and the teacher was having the highschool (i think this should be stressed that they are highschool kids) look at frigging where's waldo books

i might be able to understand this if the particular series had more text, and they were typing it... but no... looking at the pretty pictures

and the mass media in this country... damn... its crap

its hell being able to know that almost every movie from america has been crap for the past (at least) 2 years
and the music
and the tv
and ... and... fashion... yes... its trendy to have expensive clothes? and its trendy to wear them only a couple of times?... i have shirts that are like 4 or 5 years old that i still wear...

whatever... ok, thats it... im going anti american... and i hope the fbi, cia, nba, or upn picks that up on their scanners... i do not want to be part of this crap

i havent stood up for the pledge, or sang the national anthem in like 3ish years

# Come to Britain!!
You sound like the sort of person we love. Things are very similar in some ways but you're fully expected to take the piss and not considered unpatriotic here!
(, Wed 11 Sep 2002, 0:04, archived)
# We would all agree here in Britain that your country does indeed 'suck'.
However so does ours. The other man's grass is always greener they say. We must love what we have or change to avoid a bitter life.

Some answers:

>Media is controlled by advertising.
>Advertising is a machine in the accumulation of money.
>Education is the doctrination of the countries philosophy and knowledge aimed at a mass population and therefore aims at the lowest common denominator (so as to not loose th stupid childrens interest). Education has failed as many as it has saved.

Its a pity you have so much hate though. Hate is the inverse of love: both are very strong polars of the same emotion. Choose love its great.

*edit* Yes new clothes are great: girls love 'em.

if i were you, i'd turn up early and nick their flag. or and leave a note to explain to them that what they're doing, ie. religion in an american public school, is illegal, and they must be evil terrorists or something

and i'm not being insensitive, but
a) bet you they've never met any of the people who died
b) thousands of people die horribly every day around the world and not a fuss is made
c) worse things have happened
(, Tue 10 Sep 2002, 23:40, archived)
# yes!
haha, good- will do...

should i also wear my quite militia themed clothes and bring my russian rifle?

or maybe if i just brought a sword... i dunno...

maybe i am a terrorist...

i am considering purchasing an ak47... the stereotypical weapon of choice for your stereotypical terrorist (the boxcutter is for the poor t's)
