Rich people spend for the sake of spending i suppose.

A lot of people are rich because they DONT spend, or at least spend wisely the money they have earned for themselves.

Overly rich people that are pretentious and full of their own self importance. Just for one night you could buy a family a home.

If they've worked hard and been successful, who is anyone to judge how they should spend their money or how much they should earn? There are pretentious wankers in all walks of life - not just "rich" people.

I'd rather have a space programme.
But I don't go for the whole "I've earnt it, I can spend it on what I like" excuse, it's just using laisez-faire consumer capitalist ideology to justify might makes right. With power comes the responsibility to be awesome. And what I think would be really awesome is a big wheel-shaped space station like on 2001: A Space Odyssey, and a moon base.

Because he actually seems to be taking the British-billionaire Bond-villain thing seriously. Space programs, subs...I'm hoping he has a go at jetpacks.

He only organises those balloons so he can stand above all of us plebs in the UK, screaming "Fuck YOU, you fucking SCUM!" whilst unleashing his hot, frothy piss.

We shouldn't control how they spend their money sure, but we have every right to judge. For a start, when you are THAT wealthy you almost certainly didn't earn it though hard work. more importantly though, we as humans have a duty to help people when we can. There is no difference between happily allowing a kid drowns in a pool, and being the one to hold its head under water.
In fact I think everyone should be actively encouraged to judge.
This is grotesque. Its far from harmlessly doing your own thing with your own money. its actively and aggressively allowing a kid to drown.

They also employ LOADS of people too, which is an aspect often forgotten by those who like to jealously slag off those that have a passion and done something with their life. Sure, there are lazy rich people too but that's humans for ya. Right, I'm off to play golf at my villa in Hawaii. See you slack fuckers later.

25 grand for one night in a hotel doesn't seem like wise spending or the kind of thing someone who doesn't spend would do. Think we're talking about properly rich people?
(, Wed 26 Sep 2012, 11:39, Reply)
it probably wouldn't seem like much.

(these penthouse suites are essentially living areas/office spaces too). Plus if you *really* want to get laid it helps.
