They sound like really good aircraft according the Air Accidents Investigation Board.

That landing gear control does sound excessively complex.
The prop pitch control also sounds sub-optimal.
The engine failure though can be directly attributed to an incorrect installation of the Cylinder Head Temperature probes during the build.
In short, I'd not be getting in one unless it had been flown by someone else. A lot.
