My feeling is that the overwhelming majority of the crowd had pretty much no idea what the hell he was on about or who he was. So pretty much just like a UKIP hustings over here. Bazinga!

It was a very ordinary speech
That was a massive chance to go global. A world class speaker - Tony Blair, George Galloway, Daniel Hannan - would have knocked it out the park and the contrast with Trump's mouth-breathing illiteracy would have been picked up by the media the world over.
