Many of us prefer not to be hit, beaten, robbed, spat upon, etc.
If you never know who's packin', you tend to be a bit more cautious when you decide to be an ass. People die from a single punch, and I've got a family to support.

I don't think being armed is going to protect from a single punch.
Or from people being rude.
Especially if you are carrying a concealed weapon.
Carrying an automatic weapon across your chest will cause social interaction problems at a profound level.
Is that really your defence of the second amendment 'if I'm rude, I may be shot'?
I can think of many better ones. None that really work, obs, but it's your country not mine.
