Depends on the state.
Some are just for emissions, some just brakes, some are for two years if you pay double the fee (really) and others only need them for the first thirty-odd years, which is just odd.

VW works well as eye candy and a talking point
whats the equivalant to our Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA)
is there a test that custom cars have to pass before they can be approved for road use? and by that not the equivalant of our MOT test.
Some of the car shows that are now plagueing the tv these days look like death and dismemberment come as standard .
