Dare suggest a system that has left the people of N.I without representation for 13 months isn't perfect?
How dare she?
The EU tried to weaponize the GFA first by insisting an agreement is made on the border before talking about trade.
Here's a solution.
The UK makes the unilateral decision not to impose a border on their side. If the EU forces Ireland to impose one on their side then that's between them and their masters. It was never a proper border, it's a fucking colander.
The EU's border has even more holes in it. Ireland knows this.
This is why they were happy with free movement between Ireland and the UK but refused to join the Schengen area.
Also if any elected official refuses to take up their posts then impose an automatic by-election.
Right, problem solved.
Can we get on with leaving the fucking eu already?

Linking to another thread where you just post and run?
Not sure that warrants a "hooray".
Now unless things have changed dramatically here you'll abandon this thread whilst a couple of other people jump in on a tangent.

you havent got the first clue about the GFA
Your opinion is entirely led by whatever shit Kate Hoey has said that day. So we've gone from 'it's not in danger' to 'would it be so bad if it was in danger?' in the space of 2 months
Breathtaking stupidity really

You're still around? Genuine surprise.
Before we continue please point to where I wrote 'would it be so bad if it was in danger?'

Come on Benny, don't be shy. Just point to where I wrote that quote and we can have a lovely chat.

that's no excuse to abandon being genuine for the sake of an egotistical 'win'
your argument should be able to withstand criticism on it's own rights, with or without your ego in tow.

Why do you always play the man instead of the ball?
You haven't addressed any of the points made in his opinion, merely claimed it to be someone else's.
You've also insulted the guy personally twice, for no apparent reason.
Have you ever actually managed to take a position which you support with facts without undermining your argument with fallacies and emotionally charged attacks on people? I'd be genuinely interested in a single example link where you have done so.

So, in summary,
No, you're not going to provide that link. Instead you make an oblique reference prior conversations you had (yet somehow unable to provide a link to), and a tacit insinuation that my lack of participation in that conversation somehow puts me at fault, yet again playing the man and not the ball.
Anyone else? Surely someone has witnessed Benny actually making a point, with supplied evidence, which he didn't tarnish with insults?

The thing is,
any attempt to find common ground is thwarted because he never seems to actually be interested in having a discussion.
He appears only to want to stick it to those he perceives as fascists, and receive a welcoming round of applause in response from an appreciative echo chamber.
I wasn't actually trying to defeat anyone, merely trying to coax something good out of him by pointing out its all been 100% ad hominem from him so far, and by inviting him to actually join in (since he appears to be so passionate about it all). He just did the same thing again, presumably intentionally to thumb his nose at the notion of debating properly, which I interpreted as essentially waving a white flag.

but if you encounter an on goning echo chamber
where everyone appears to be enjoying the circle jerk sometimes all you can do is throw in a hand grenade to see what's survived the shrapnel blast and observe from a safe distance whilst considering your next move. why the conflict? why is it so hard to help each other out with understanding? why so adversarial? ego? there appears to be a common goal in mind from all parties. *posted before your edit

It's the same with tarriffs
The UK does not have to put tariffs on any imported goods if it doesn't want to. The WTO recommended tariffs are not compulsory. A cliff edge Brexit ASAP please.

Accidents happen.
Lucky for you I had the page open in another tab so managed to recover it for you.
" they are often backed up with verifiable sources rather than opinion pieces
calling stupid stupid is uncivil but often factually correct, or at least evidence based."
Yeah I would have deleted that too.

I know you probably agree with him politically more often than not,
and I know he's not the only one who does it, but seriously go back and look at Benny's posting history, and objectively compare it to those of other folk whose opinions you probably disagree with more often.
You'll find he has made more ad hominem attacks than anyone else here,(including Pru), and he starts debates then runs away, but he gets a free pass because he'll happily have a pop at the Tories and everyone here loves agood pop at the Tories.

Not an angel no, but you are endlessly smug and inexplicably have a superiority complex that is quite baffling.
The constant links to XKCD strips is not in the least bit tedious, and doesn't betray the obsession of an adolescent mind.

Fair enough... I have used some invalid debating techniques in the past,
but with quantitative and qualitative differences; it happens much less regularly, and if it's pointed out to me I'll be forced to admit my error rather than doubling down, Trump style.
