Hmm... yokshire pudding gets soggy,it has undefined expansion and density/porosity but pastry has been used to enclose gravy for centuries in ..THE PIE! Pastry with just a little suet to aid its waterproofing in the same shape as the tub would be a winner.
IMHO.
