a dog would love the attention of a big group
wagging its tail, jumping on laps, getting excited, running around etc.
Cats just think 'FUCK YOU ALL' and try to escape or claw people to death

Cat/ Dog polarization
Ok. Try this.
Cats and dogs have the ability to remind us of certain aspects of ourselves due to we being further along on the evolutionary path.
Some time ago, cats branched out in their chosen direction, and dogs went thither, and foxes went somewhere inbetween, evolution being the marvelously wonderful thing it is.
One is not better than the other, merely an adaption to certain survival/ evolutionary criteria. Hence:
1. woof
2. meow
/felt sorry for teh kitty in vid

Cat's are more evolutionarily stable though.
Aside from fur colour and length most cats are the same but dogs vary a lot in size and shape.

I would say that cats display larger variations on size than dogs (e.g. lions etc.).

The multitude variety of dogs is all man made of course.
Crazy how we got from a proud, powerful wolf to a small, rat-like useless kickable Chihuahua

Well lions are not cats though are they?
Whilst both are of the family Felidae they cannot interbreed so are a different species.

Although you can get some pretty interesting results if you breed some of the big cats together.

This variety is at the family level not within the same species
Dogs have been found to carry one 'master gene' which largely accounts for the wide size range. This gene mutation has probably been maintained by humans through selective breeding. www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=9348104

That's probably saying it clearer than I did.
Although you could simplify things further by stating if Dogs were a place it would be Norfolk.
