I often wondered about the fuel boosters ,whether they burnt up on re entry.Now I know. Are they re claimed or allowed to sink.

They were recovered, refurbished, re-fueled and re-flown.
Hence the parachute deployment in the final stage of the flight.
BTW - Who decides whether the prefix 're' is hyphenated or not?
