Can I just threadjack here and ask you a question as our resident expert of ethnobotanicals?
I've got 454g (1lb) of damiana leaf and 250g of cola nut powder on the way to me.
You think that would be potent enough in a 5 gallon wine solution?
Funny enough aside from a lack of coca lead this is how coca cola started.

I would suggest a bit of experimentation by scaling it down to smaller amounts n see what you reckon, both in taste and effect, not to mention how well their active ingredients infuse. Try making a few teas, essentially.
All I can tell you really is that Damiana works best when treated like any tea, you do seem to have to get it hot, doesn't have to be boiling tho. As I'm sure you've discovered it's dirt cheap so you can happily waste lots till you get your proportions and methods right before going for the full wine making monty!
Not too sure about the cola nut, not sure I've tried that one yet. Anyone else wanna chip in if they have?
*edit* it sounds like you may be making Space Coke! When you've managed a successful batch I may be interested in buying a bottle if poss!? Curious!

I wish you good luck with your endeavours n hope it's successful!
Do keep us informed!
Sorry I'm not that helpful about it, really, wine making really isn't my area of expertise, but if you need any other sources of ethnobotanicals to experiment with, I dare say I can help there.
A nice Fly Agaric port mahaps!? So civilised! ;)

Cheap to set up and you'll have a nice drinkable brew in about a month for about 50p a bottle.
It's really not difficult.

I'll think on that, I could use a new hobby. Cheers!
