Sure it was a weasel and not a ferret?
I see a guy with a ferret on a lead at my station fairly regularly.

How can you tell the difference
between a weasel and a stoat?

Enid Blyton...
...had this in The Children of Cherry Tree Farm: "The stoat can be easil-y told from the weasel, by the simple fact that its tail is blacked, and its figure is slightly the bigger."
And there was a section on a weasel doing a dance to attract prey, which has now been completely ruined for me :-(
("Tammylan explained to the children that the weasel was dancing because a ball of nematodes had burrowed into its brain...")
