Was thinking about this short-term political fix whereby Cameron needs to get some votes back and the long-term consequences of being out of the EU just because a few hundred eurosceptics and four newspaper owners want to relive a 'British Empire' experience.

The Daily Mail are lapping it up.
I have to say, in fairness to him, having head part of the speech on Radio 4 this morning he did raise some legitimate points about the EU - i.e. that a 'one-size fits all' approach hasn't worked and everyone accepts it won't work in the future. I still think that ultimately, though, it's a desperate ploy to try and save his chances at the next election.
