This reminds me of me, when I was a kid.
I'm still like it to some extent now. But when I was younger, I used to involuntary laugh or smirk when confronted with serious situations. When I was being told off, the way angry contorted looks on peoples faces just used to make my mouth muscles raise. This of course made people even more angry at me, just compounding the issue more.
I also remember being told that someone had died, and laughed as well. Not because I found it funny, just responded in an involuntary strange way.
