This is a normal post Genuinely, there is no irony in this DailyMash article
The vote got posted up here a while back and I think the conclusion was that indie music had become "a bit shit" since the nineties, with a few rare gems poking through, virtually none of which were in the voting list.

I think we can all agree that Coldplay and Chris Martin are massive, massive cunts.

there is loads of great new music out there, and you're only choosing to remember the good stuff from the 90's. Soup Dragons? Mock Turtles? The Farm?

6 Music's list was a cowardly populist one,so the result was always going to something fairly mainstream. This was actually a unique opportunity to bring more obscure work to a larger audience.

This is a normal post Okay, for a start that was the first couple of years of the 90s
And I like all three of the bands you're listing - I have fond memories of baggy and Blur came out of that same scene, so it basically gave birth to Britpop.

You would've been better off citing Menswear or perhaps Travis as shite from the 90s.

I'm not saying that there isn't some great music out there (there is) but that the breadth and depth of quality music isn't there now.

This is a normal post Oh god you're so right
I forgot that when Coldplay broke through, they cited Embrace, Keane and Travis as their fave bands/influences.

Fucking dicks.

This is a normal post Embrace was one of my first ever gigs.
A friends dad thought he was down with the youth and said he was taking us to see the next big thing.

They were shit.

Gomez were the support and were better as they had that one good track which they played.

the general tone of your point is completely at odds with you liking the 3 bands I mentioned.

This is a normal post I was a lot younger when I liked them
So I suspect I would hate them now if introduced to them 'new'. Rose-tinted glasses and all that.
