Kermode was married to my dissertation tutor at Southampton uni.
He came in and did a lecture on the Exorcist.

He got an honorary doctorate from us a couple of years ago.
I had no idea, until he joined us in the procession up on to the stage.

He was visibly moved, and altogether lovely.
