Company that prides itself on design pays $21 million for stealing design.
Yep, it's Apple again.

Hopefully this doesn’t embolden Braun to go after Apple, because it pretty clearly ripped off the German company in its original iOS calculator design
Of course Braun will now.

The Mondaine clock is a bloody iconic bit of design and only a complete idiot would copy it thinking they would not be found out.
It would be like IKEA making a cheap knockoff of a Eames chair

Yeah, well it would seem if you've got the money to pay for the fall-out you can rob pretty much what you want.

Gosh it's like the witch hunt of the mid nineties when everybody hated Microsoft with a passion for being huge and successful
I wonder who's next

I use Apple stuff, kind of have to really.
It may come across as a witch hunt but i think if any company is robbing stuff they should be forced to pay, i'm sure it happens all the time but Apple are so big (and therefore considered 'evil' by some people) they make the news.
If someone robbed my stuff, or your stuff, i'm sure you'd want some kind of compensation and acknowledgement.

It's the smug delight of people pointing at the corporate monolith when they fuck up that amuses me
As if it's something new in the behaviour of a corporate monolith
I think the world would be better lived if everyone took of their ties and wore these instead

I think the smug delight comes from watching a bullying, litigious company getting a taste of it's own medicine.
It's even more fun because most of its disciples are a bunch of Stockholm Syndrome obsessives.

There is a level of smugness.
That's probably because it's like the bully at school who always robbed kids' dinner money and always gets away with it, then one day a teacher clocks them at it, they get taken to heel for it and everyone is happy to see them get what they deserve.
To be fair, i think apple have probably made a lot of money by ripping off a lot of people who can't afford to take them to heel for it (obviously they aren't the only company to have done this), throwing their weight around and so on, so when someone can afford to pull them up on it and does it's just good to see.

It's very inconsiderate for Apple to not have any letters in it's name
which can easily be turned into currency symbols.

$21 million is nothing to Apple
They're sitting on the wealth of a small nation over there.
