This is a normal post I find it quite odd some people seem to make jest of the risk of ebola
as if it's the usual right wing press whipping everyone up into a frenzied panic. Perhaps they don't take any interest in the news at the moment. I've watched health experts on a daily basis warn parts of Africa are slipping into a catastrophe.

Perhaps it's Africans they don't actually give a fuck about

Says the guy who has often put people on ignore for expressing an alternative point of view. You're the kind of chap who loves diversity, as long as it's not diversity of opinion. Or to put it another way: you're basically everything you look down on other people for being. It's comical.

People dismiss the conspiracy theorists whilst ignoring the indisputable fact that Buzz Lightyear doesn't exist.

This is a normal post Except that this obviously isn't making light of the risk.
It's making light of the paranoia, now that a couple of white people have become ill.

If you happen to be directly exposed to the virus, and don't have access to medical care, you've got a problem. If you aren't directly exposed, or if you do have access to medical care, you'll probably be fine: ebola is currently very hard to catch, and appears to be reasonably easy to treat if detected.

As far as I can tell, the cartoon is taking the piss out of people freaking out about ebola (like this - and it's not just a US phenomenon: Mancunians are at it, too).

Can you really not tell the difference between making light of ebola, and making light of the ebola panic?

Also, if you're really so bothered about people making jokes about grim situations... had you not noticed that thats what b3ta tends humans tend to do quite a lot of the time?

This is a normal post 'Making light of the paranoia'
..or getting so caught up trying to be cynical about that paranoia and Daily Mail brand hysteria, forgetting there is actually a very serious problem

This is a normal post Please, do point out where I said that it's not a serious problem.
Of course it's serious. It could conceivably become much more serious. Nevertheless, it doesn't warrant the paranoia that's been whipped up in some places - indeed, talk of quarantining people might actually increase the risk, since it makes it more likely that those who have been exposed to the virus will avoid medical attention.

The fact that the outbreak is serious doesn't mean that there aren't ridiculous aspects to the response.

This is a normal post I didn't say you haven't said it's not a serious problem. In fact I haven't said YOU'VE said anything, so I don't know where you're coming from there
I suppose my view has been skewed by people i've watched comment almost entirely being cynical about the hysterical response of some

and not actually express even sympathy for the outbreak that's unfolding.

Which itself seems typical of many people I know. More ready to have a pop at the idiot they should know will be daft in it's response, such as the Daily Mail, than the problem they are reporting badly

There. Sue me.

Actually, come to think of it, if they all die they'd be no one to pick coffee or chocolate, which would be regrettable. Could probably be done by robots though.

And we wouldn't get any 419 emails any more.
