This is a link post "Freedom or we die" - Egyptians threaten to lay siege to the presidential palace
I have friends who are "secular" Egyptians living in the states and cannot understand how it has gone so far so fast. With tourism comprising 2/3 of the economy, this has got to be a step backwards.

This is a normal post just get them all together
and make some stone towers or something, maybe in a 3D triangle design, like a pyramid. Then get the yanks and japs to turn up photographing them and giving them money.

I've got friends over there now on holiday, it's quite a big country, more places to go than Cairo and further south you'd hardly know anything was going on at all.

This is a normal post The libertine areas like Sharm al Sheik might have their days numbered if things proceed as they seem to be.

This is a normal post What the place that keeps getting blown up..
Mainly because its just full of fat Isrealis? The hotel next to mine was blown up by fundamentalists when I was there about 5 years ago.

The main reason thing like this move so fast is exactly because the moderate middle don't do anything - Look at what happened in Nazi Germany.

Once you give nutters free rein once its incredibly difficult to get them to stop.

This is a normal post The moderate middle class are often those keeping society together by getting up, going to work, raising kids, etc.
They cannot mobilize as quickly. It is a shame, because Egypt was looking like one of the more normal middle east countries for a while there.

This is a normal post Umm, I think it's brilliant
these people are demonstrating against something they think (and most of the rest of the world probably thinks) is wrong. If only people in Europe got this excited about abuses of power instead of moaning about it over a pint.
