Their unpowered design allows for some amazing performance.
The top models can pull Gs which will rip the wings off an F16. Most GA stuff can't even come close to the tricks gliders possess.

A fun tip: when at an air show, if you see the glider vendor looking miserable because everyone's asking where's the propellor, ask her or him where they put the water. You'll actually have something to discuss and learn about a specialised bit of glider engineering.
