This is a link post PC Mechanism - status and fun with sharp objects...
For those that have inquired about my long absence from /links, It is due to illness. The long and short of things is I have stage 3 liver disease (I'm more orange than the Tango man) and am so weak I spend much of my days in bed trying to keep my mood up a bit and waiting for a donor. I also (lucky me) have rotting leg bones, so I've lost the ability to walk and am in constant high pain - yet again, my luck shows through, as I'm allergic to most pain killers. All in all, I'm down by 9stone and a bit, so it's a hell of a diet plan, though I wouldn't recommend it. I'm due to have most of both femurs (big leg bones for the uninitiated) replaced next Thursday very soon - allergic for anaesthetic too, so it's a high risk surgery, so wish me well.

I hope I can get the spare parts I need, get off of disability, and return to a rapey stabby way of life - for now I'm conserving my energies. At least I have the newsletter to enjoy.

Feel free to share the above with whomever you please (except the local priest) - I don't want to come off looking for pity. I'm not - I just want my life back
Stay in touch - feel free to email me at [email protected] (that can be sent around to any of the regulars who want to take the piss

On the plus side, if the surgeons need any viciously sharp cutting instruments, I'm sure you can accommodate them.

This is a normal post All the very best for your operation
Hope you're a lot better ASAP.

I keep thinking that in the way they do open surgery to identify and avoid inducing loss of feeling it might/should be possible to intentionally do it if it's absolutely necessary (i.e. no other choice as I'd guess it's a one way street).

Instead of waiting for a donor liver, have you considered training up someone to harvest one for you?
