This is a link post Piece kickstarter I made this!

Having made a bunch of movies with little to no budget, we've been given the opportunity to film a short story by one of my favourite authors Iain Banks. Given the scope of the story and the seriousness of the topic, we really need to have a budget to do it justice and so we've set up a kickstarter to finance the venture.

Not that we're necessarily begging on the pavement of the information superhighway - everyone who donates $25 (about £15.59 in real money) will get a copy of the film on DVD, while higher donations can also net you a hardbound copy of the script and the original short story signed by the author.

If you're a fan of Iain Banks - or indeed Sean Pertwee (swoon!) who has signed up to the project - please take a look and see if it's the sort of thing you'd like to get involved with.

This is a normal post You should add your kickstarter to that article
if possible.

Also, happy to help!

This is a normal post Good luck, EMV.
If I happen to find myself with any spare money between now and December, consider it yours.

You might also try this, or something like it - there are a few platforms that offer this kind of service iirc

www.crowdfunder.co.uk/

It's an increasingly common route for projects that have some sort of hook into a particular target audience (as yours does with the Banks connection), to raise investment. It might be something you'd want to consider as part of your overall fundraising strategy.

This is a normal post We have looked at it before for another project
But as that doesn't have a "name" attached it would be a much harder sell on crowd funding sites - thanks to the Banks connection we decided this one stood a much better chance of raising the money.

This is a normal post Very exciting, good luck!
I've been waiting years for somebody to turn one of Iain Banks' sci-fi novels into a film, and State of the Art is an excellent choice, I reckon.

This is a normal post against a dark background would work best.
self contained, no need to explain the whole culture. a standard quest narrative. 4 or 5 amazing locations that are all visually distinctive. it would be a fucking peach.

This is a normal post ^ this is true
Everyone on the crew has their own favourite - I'd love to do Use of Weapons but the narrative structure would make it very difficult to do it justice

if you'd caught me two months ago i would have slung some quid your way. as it is i'm fucked. i fucking love iain m banks! if you ever make a feature length film with a massive hundreds of millions of dollars budget make an adaptation of against a dark background. it's the iain m banks novel most suited to a film adaptation i reckon. good luck!

As a massive, massive Pertwee fan myself, it's only a matter of time before I lose my cool and start wibbling on about how much I love Event Horizon...though I've heard he gets that a lot :)
