This is a normal post To say I've watched a lot of horror films is something of an understatement.
As much as I enjoy them, it's very rare that I feel even the merest blip of a chill.

This one though... Nearly 40 years old and I'd struggle to watch it on my own. The plot is silly old toilet about the Devil being stuck in a fancy pot (sorta) but when it all starts going bollock shaped, it gives me the proper creeps.

This is a normal post Yup, Carpenter was really on top of it from the late '70s until the early '90s.
Then he seemed to shit it all out the window. The Ward was such a disappointment as it was supposed to be a return to form.

The Thing, They Live, Escape From New York, Halloween, all absolute corkers. Prince of Darkness though is the only one that puts me on edge.

This is a normal post I did.
Even though I really like some of Mann's stuff (Brian Cox is the best Lector by far in my humble), I didn't get along with that. I'd read the book a few months before and I think that spoiled it for me. I'd created an exact picture of what it would look like and the differences disappointed me.

Having said that, it was a ropey VHS copy and 20 years ago, must be time for a rewatch.

Many years ago I was in the US, jetlagged, and watching a bad horror movie in the middle of the night. I'd love to see it again but didn't get the name.

There's a gang trying to steal some religious/satanic artefact froma monastery. It's over the alter in a big hall so they use climbing gear to reach it, the guy grabs it and his head starts spinning round, a bunch of monks run in, and the guy shoots fire from his hands and their heads explode. I can remember kill bill style jumpsuits and 70s music.

I heard a bunch of rave reviews, but have yet to watch it myself. It seems right up my street though as a psychological horror rather than a splat-gore film.
