This is a link post Woman with Alzheimer's surfaces for a moment
My mom has been steadily on the decline with dementia. The advantage is that every time I call her, everything is new to her.

This is a normal post My Mum was like that 8 years ago,
All she does now is sob and sleep. She has no idea whatsoever who anybody is, including herself. Evil fucking disease.

This is a normal post You just never know when to draw the line. It is a slow, advancing and retreating phenomenon.
And I just glanced through the comments.; what a bunch of insecure ass hatted trolls trying to insert themselves into this woman's brief happiness.

This is a normal post Reddit users seem to be getting the reputation 4Chan used to have.

This is a normal post 4chan users like to pretend to be 9gag, ebaums and reddit
users when being gits. That said, reddit isn't exactly fluffy.

This is a normal post I think the body goes first in most cases.
It's got to a point where I'll see a car coming as I cross the road and think to myself 'better up the pace DVDAFever, or it's pancake time', and what seems likes like a fucking age later my legs will go 'OK then', just in time to be greeted with a car horn and swearing.

This is a normal post My 84 year old gramps blew his lid off a month ago..
Rather than going through this like gran did.

With a vintage silex one shot smooth bore black powder .58 dueling handcannon.

Gramps always had style.

This is a normal post That's a decisive act - not a cry for help. I salute his bravery
As to the weapon used - stylish.

This is a normal post If if he had totally missed,
I think the concussion in his bedroom would have done him.

Even the Russian judge would have given him 10 for style.

This is a normal post Sorry to hear

But I also respect his decision. I'd like to think I'd do the same if I was in that situation.

This is a normal post I respect his choice
I did not go into morals, that's the way he wanted to go, he told me about 10 years ago.
Sad but glad he did it on his own terms.

I'm just a bit miffed that the doctors had pushed this on him with a "right, we pick you up tomorrow morning mate" one afternoon. Denying him the time to give his goodbyes.

I too respect his decision as upsetting as the whole situation must have been.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

This is a normal post My aunt was not impressed when she found him.
The house still stank of black powder 2 weeks later.

Old people should be given the choice, and not only painless injections in Switzerland.

If gramp or gran chooses guns, cocaine, heroin, Semtex, red bull and vodka, smashing into a concrete wall at 200mph or all the above combined.
He or she should be granted this.

Being tied to a bed 24/7 and fed though a tube with no exit EVER seems like torture. Medicalised torture.
"Libre arbitre" should never be totally removed.

This is a normal post Have you seen the movie Robot and Frank?
Sounds a bit off topic I know but it deals with this issue. The last 10 minutes are very moving and sad. Its a great film.

This is a normal post I did see that
it is a strange forgettable movie, but it was really well filmed and a brilliant essay on old age, families, and technology.
